Black/Red decks can be fun because of their pure creature destroying goodness. Mmmmm.........direct damage and creature destruction...
Doesn't mean thats the only path to take though.

Definitely. Red/Black has good potential for making the other player pull his or her hair out. Especially if he or she has a heavy-creature deck thats green or maybe white. However, there is a subtle weakness to this sort of deck that has to do with the amount of cards in your hand. Creatures are unique because they have the potential of doing damage multiple times for the cost of 1 card. This shouldn't be taken for granted considering that you only get 1 new card a round and you start with 7. Damage magic, death magic, and counter spelling has a funny way of running your hand out and that might leave you open to getting penetrated in the worst sort of way. If you go with this sort of deck, you need some supplementing creatures like Black Knights and Order of the Ebon Hands. With that said, why mix the colors? I say go all black. You can probably find enough death magic in the 10 cent bin to make a deck that is heavy in it without the Fireballs and the Shocks. But whatever, its not like 2 colors is obscene and one color decks are still more costly. This sort of deck is pretty fun, especially when you don't like the person you're playing with

I'd say green has a worse time with creature destruction than white. On another note, I, like everyone else, hate permission decks. Except when I have the permission deck. Then it's fun. Especially when my permission deck relies on Cephalid-Plagiarism insanity. I originally used the cephalids for decking, but I splashed black for Megrim. Gets around the no cards in hand problem. The Rack would work too. Main problem is the counters I have right now suck. Big time. I need to pick up some Rune Snags and what-have-you. Every now and then though, I feel like building a deck that actually wins against something. I usually just customize my burn deck more though. "Lightning Bolt to your face!". I love Goblin Charbelcher. Especially when I run under twenty lands in a 60 card deck. Whats amazing though, is I rarely get mana screwed. Maybe I sold my soul by accident. It doesn't extend to boosters though. For some reason it only works with mana.
